It’s taken more than I expected to get this live…

You’ll know from reading this site and other posts here that I lost my London-based massage businesses with the COVID-19 outbreak… But even though I trained and worked as a massage therapist for 10 years, in between I trained and worked as an English as a Foreign teacher too…

So while I put a huge amount of time and energy into building up my massage business in London, I eventually got tired of doing massage and for various reasons actually left London three years ago.

I now live in Crete, Greece, where I work as an ESL/EFL teacher…

COVID-19 shut down all of the schools in Greece, as well as pretty much everything else, but luckily I had already transitioned to working 90% online, with Russian adults and Chinese children… As well as some local classes with Greek students, to actually feel connected to the country I am living in…

So while most people have been sent home to wait out the quarantine and many people have loads of time on their hands, I have actually been quite busy with an increase in lessons while people are sat at home with time to enjoy their hobbies (or home-schooling their kids)…

What I’m trying to say is that I’ve been really busy and it’s been tough to find the time to work out all of the little details involved in setting up an online shop… It’s taken me longer than I’d hoped and there have been a number of headaches along the way…  But finally, I am happy to say that Happy Masks is open and ready for business!

We are now starting the outreach process to connect with potential affiliates to promote the store and earn an income for themselves 🙂

Trying to build a website in my limited spare time…

So it’s taking more time to get this site up and running as it seems I’m one of the fewer and fewer people to still have a job…

I’m a bit resentful of all of the people who suddenly have loads of time on their hands to enjoy and pursue their hobbies…

But overall I feel lucky that three and a half years ago my wife and I decided to leave the UK to find an easier and less stressful life (after 10 years of grinding away in London)…

I dusted off my TEFL qualifications and found work teaching English in Greece… This proved to be VERY seasonal… You can’t live for 12 months off 3 months of summer work… So I transitioned to online teaching…

My online work involves teaching Russian adults (mostly exam preparation work) and Chinese children (mostly picture books about talking animals… Such a contrast!) so I’ve been somewhat connected to the Coronavirus situation in China since they locked down in mid-late January… When the number of my lessons with Chinese kids went UP!

What this has meant though, despite the continued income when my London massage business folded, that I have limited time to set up this new website…

But I’m working as quickly as I can… My assistant is great at design and without having to manage the bookings anymore she can field all of the weird and wild ideas I throw her way… So we’ll have some cool stuff coming out soon…

These are some of the mask ideas we’ve got in store for you!

Just a few little things to still work out and hopefully, we’ll be live in the near future…

Let’s set up a new business in the middle of a pandemic…

It’s not the smartest thing to do, but it’s what we find ourselves doing…

I trained as a corporate onsite massage therapist and worked in London for 10 years, building up a small but solid business, which I managed to keep running with the help of my Virtual Assistant, Eirene, for three and a half years after leaving London…

Until the Global Pandemic of 2020 shut everyone down…

Luckily I had already transitioned to online English teaching so only lost a little work myself, but my business and my ability to pay my therapists and Eirene, a stay at home mum, was effectively over until further notice…

With only a small reserve of funds available, I decided, with the help of my wife, Ereni, to try to set up a new online business as quickly as possible!

Stay tuned to see how we get on…
